The Dublin Police Department recognized two of its own Monday. Master Patrolman Brandon Blair and Patrolman Lionel “Lenny” Emond were thanked by Chief Tim Suokko, who presented them with certificates for their five years of service to the town.

“We’re fortunate to have them working here,” Suokko said. “They’re both very reliable and very competent. I can always count on them to fill a void.”

Suokko said that public perceptions of police make their work more challenging these days.

“Police can be heroes on day, and villains the next,” he said.

In another matter, Town Road Agent Roger Tempe said the Highway Department will be crushing stone into gravel using existing materials to use on town roads.

“We have the stone at the highway pit and will be putting the gravel from it out on the roads as needed,” Tempe said.

Referring to the department’s winter preparations, Tempe said, “The price of salt went down this year. It’s $1.50 an ton.”

Tempe added that he expects to purchase 110 tons of salt for this winter. The Highway Department mixture for the roads is 15 yards of sand for every yard of salt, Tempe said.
