RINDGESheldon to speak at Historical Society meeting

Peterborough’s Kenneth M. Sheldon, author of “Deep Water,” will be the featured speaker at the Rindge Historical Society’s annual meeting on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the Meeting House in Rindge.

A brief business meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by refreshments. Sheldon will speak at 1 p.m., about “Deep Water,” which recounts events of 1918 that shook the community of Jaffrey to the core.  Prominent Jaffrey farmer Dr. William K. Dean was found tied and murdered at the bottom of a farm cistern on a quiet local road.  Stunned, the community searched to find the culprit responsible for the retired physician’s death.

Set against the backdrop of the closing days of World War I, suspicions fell wide and far,  Still, more than 100 years later, the murder remains unsolved.
