A single-vehicle crash brought down a telephone pole across Forest Road in Greenfield, which took out power in the area and stopped both lanes of traffic for an hour and a half Tuesday afternoon.

First responders were summoned at 1:29 p.m. when a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Jared Rumley, 26, of Peterborough hit a telephone pole east of Zephyr Lake Road.

Rumley was alone in the car at the time of the crash, Police Chief Brian Giammarino said, and sustained a big cut on his chin but refused medical treatment at the scene. “Speed was definitely a factor in the crash,” Giammarino said. No skid marks were visible at the scene, he said. The vehicle was extensively damaged and was towed from the scene, he said.
