Arrest made in Brookline shooting; Lyndeborough death under investigation

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in Brookline Wednesday morning that left a man injured, and the investigation into a death in Lyndeborough later in the day is ongoing.

According to a statement from New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella’s office, at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement responded to the area of Route 13 and Townsend Hill Road in Brookline for a report of a shooting.

Upon arriving, officers encountered 44-year-old Carlos Quintong responsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Quintong was transported to the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Robert Gagnon, 45, of Manchester, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder for allegedly shooting Quintong. Gagnon is expected to be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua, although a date has not been set.

At approximately 9:21 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a home on Center Road in Lyndeborough, where they discovered 83-year-old Robert Prest dead inside the home. At this time, the investigation into his death is ongoing, and an autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. 

According to the statement, all parties involved in these incidents appear to have been identified and there is no known threat to the public at this time. Several law enforcement agencies have assisted in this investigation, including the Lyndeborough, Milford, Greenfield, Peterborough, Wilton and Nashua police departments, as well as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
