Filing period for elected town positions opening soon

Multiple towns have announced their vacancies on elected boards in advance of the filing period for 2021 town elections.

In Temple, the Select Board has a vacancy for one three-year seat. Trustees of the trust funds have one vacant three-year seat. Cemetery trustees have one vacant three-year seat, library trustees have two vacant three-year seats, the Planning Board has two vacant three-year seats and one two-year seat, the single three-year seat for the ConVal School Board is up for election, and there is one three-year position open for fire engineer.

In Francestown, the two-year Town Moderator position is up for renewal, with Kevin Pobst in the incumbent position. Incumbent Select Board member Brad Howell’s three-year term is up for a vote, and there are two three-year openings on the Planning Board, with members Karen Fitzgerald and Linda Kunhardt’s terms up for renewal. There’s one three-year opening with the Trustees of Trust Funds with Janet Taft in the incumbent position, and one three-year term with the Cemetery Commission as Polly Freese’s term is up for renewal. Finally, two three-year fireward positions are up for votes, with Brian Delahanty and Jason St. Cyr’s terms up for renewal.

In Antrim, the Cemetery Trustees have a three-year term up for renewal, currently filled by Sarah Burt. The Supervisors of the Checklist have one three-year and one one-year term up for voting, currently filled by James Creighton and Kathleen Clark, respectively. Two three-year library trustee positions are up for renewal, currently filled by Shelly Connolly and Diane Kendall. Two three-year planning board spots are also opening up, currently occupied by Mary Allen and Neal Pattison. The three-year Select Board seat occupied by Michael Genest is up for election, as is the three-year Town Clerk position currently occupied by Diane M. Chauncey. A three-year term as Treasurer occupied by Benjamin Pratt is up for election, as is one unoccupied three-year Trustee of Trust Funds position and a three-year Water and Sewer Commissioner position currently filled by Samuel Harding.

In all three towns, candidates can file declarations of candidacy or nomination petitions on Jan. 20 through Jan. 29 via the Town Clerk’s office. In Antrim and Francestown, any filings on Jan. 29 must be completed in person between 3 and 5 p.m.
