Temple is seeking a new part-time Select Board Assistant. Current Select Board Assistant Paul Clifton-Waite will serve until the end of the month.
Clifton-Waite said that he will be going full-time with his current part-time job as a corporate paralegal. “I will not have enough time to devote to the town and the other client,” he said. Clifton-Waite began his work with the town at the end of January. “I’ve really enjoyed my time working for the town, and serving its residents, and working with the board. I just need to make a shift in my career to better serve my family at this point,” he said.
Clifton-Waite acknowledged that this is a busy time of year for the Select Board as the budget is being developed, and said he would try to work with his successor to keep anything from getting dropped during the transition.
He said he would still be present in the community through his role with the Live Free and Ski charity and Lions Club events.
The Select Board assistant is the public face of the board and is responsible for handling board telephone calls and correspondence, interacting with the public and with state agencies and tax assessors, and taking minutes at board meetings. Good interpersonal skills are necessary, and experience in a town or business position with similar responsibilities is a plus. The position requires a fixed schedule, but the board can be flexible in establishing that schedule, around board meetings, which are every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and typically run to about 8 p.m. No weekend hours are required. The position is currently for 25 hours per week with the possibility of expanding to 30 hours per week. The hourly rate is $24. Interested applicants should send an email with qualifications to selectboard@templenh.org.
