Families are staying connected on Monday nights in Temple this summer with sports nights at the Temple Elementary School playground.

Every week, children gather to play kickball, basketball or other sports with classmates and siblings. The games are unstructured and keeping score is secondary to the children having fun and staying active.

“My kids love to play sports and they love being around all the other kids who come to play too,” said Michelle Foisy, who brought her two sons Sam and Alex to the event on Monday. Foisy’s sons were among 10 children who participated this week. She said she looks forward to bringing her kids to future games.

Weather has limited the number of gatherings that have been held so far this summer, but chidren of all ages are encouraged to attend every Monday at 6:30 p.m.
