The Wilton-Lyndeborough girls’ tennis team got an upset win over Conant in Jaffrey Monday afternoon despite carrying only four players and forfeiting three matches.

The Orioles are usually a team with championship aspirations, but after graduating three top players and losing another two who did not return this spring, Conant’s young team has been forced to move up, and quickly, with sophomore Isabella Hart taking the No. 1 spot.

WLC’s No. 1 Elisabeth Jacob won a hard-fought 8-4 match with Hart and then teamed with No. 2 Erin MacDonald for an 8-2 doubles win over Hart and Jess Yap.

Yap secured Conant’s lone earned win of the afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Madeleine Straw.

Otherwise, it was all WLC, as Senja Sours beat Lilly Rennie 8-3 at No. 4 and then teamed with Straw for an 8-2 doubles win.

The Warriors forfeited No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles but still won the match 5-4.

WLC (1-2) was scheduled to play at Stevens Wednesday and host Pelham Monday.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Bow 6, ConVal 3

The Cougars lost to an experienced Bow team in their second match of the season Monday, dropping five singles matches but coming back to win two of three doubles matches.

Zach Burgess chipped in two wins for ConVal with an 8-2 singles win at No. 5 and an 8-5 doubles win with Jake Daniels.

Jaimini Viles played well at No. 1 singles, coach Mike Young said, making a comeback from 4-1 and taking a 5-4 lead before ultimately losing 8-6 in the longest match of the day. Viles teamed with Wyatt Burbank at No. 2 singles and grabbed ConVal’s other win, 8-5.

ConVal was set to host Hollis-Brookline Wednesday and Portsmouth Friday.
