Three people were injured, but none had life-threatening injuries, after a head-on collision involving two vehicles Monday evening on Route 101 in Peterborough.

The accident occurred 500 feet west of Condy Road and Route 101, between Cunningham Pond and the entrance to Miller State Park. Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said the department received multiple 911 calls reporting a multiple-vehicle crash just before 5 p.m. on Monday. Upon responding to the scene, officers found the crash involved two vehicles, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler driven by Timothy Sheahan, 52, of Dracut, Mass., and a 2015 Chevy pickup truck driven by Michael Cloutier, 28, of Jaffrey.

Guinard reported that the Jeep, which was headed east, had just entered into the curve when it was struck by the pickup heading west.

“On-scene investigation indicated that Cloutier, the driver of the pickup, crossed the center line and struck the Jeep. The vehicles collided head-on. There was significant damage to both vehicles,” Guinard said.

Guinrad said that Sheahan and his passenger, Ronald Saga, 41, also of Dracut, had to be extricated from the Jeep and were transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester with “very serious but not-life-threatening injuries.” Cloutier was treated for minor injuries.

Route 101 was closed for around two hours while the Peterborough Police Department and other responders cleaned up the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
