Hancock Town Library hosting bear presentation

Bear biologist Andrew Timmins from New Hampshire Fish and Game will present “Bears in New Hampshire” Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Daniels Room at Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St.

Timmins will provide an update on current bear population levels across various management regions in New Hampshire, and will discuss trends in population and management actions taken to maintain populations at levels consistent with Fish and Game’s long-term bear-management plan. Attendees can learn about misconceptions of bear behavior and the challenges bears face, and the presentation will focus heavily on increasing awareness of factors that perpetuate bear-human conflicts.

Timmins has worked for NHFG for 28 years and has been the bear biologist since 2002.  Last November, he was promoted to the role of game programs supervisor.

The Hancock Woman’s Club is co-sponsoring the event, which is free and open to all.
