Towns are in the process preparing their 2021 annual reports and some are asking for resident submissions of photos to accompany them.

“We do it every year,” said Rose Lowry, who helps design Temple’s town report each year. “People submit their photos and it makes the book more compelling for people to read, and it makes people feel like they’re part of it.”

Temple residents can submit their photos of events in Temple, scenic shots, or anything else from town. The practice of asking for submissions started in 2008, Lowry said, when the town celebrated its 250th anniversary.

“It was kind of a big to-do,” Lowry said. “Everyone liked it so much, we decided to keep doing it with a similar format, and it’s been great.”

Francestown, which is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, is asking for photograph submissions from residents for the first time.

“I’ve been using the same group of photos for the inside of the report, so I figured this would be better,” said Town Administrator Jamie Pike. “We have some great photographers in town.”

He said he has already received many submissions. The hope is for the photographs to be of local events from the past year, or anything interesting from Francestown.

“It’ll add a little bit of something, break the page up so you’re not just reading words,” Pike said.

Submissions are due for Francestown residents by Jan. 28, and can be submitted to selectmensoffice@francestownnh.org. Submissions for Temple can be sent to Lowry at rose@beechleafdesign.com, and are due by Feb. 1.
