Greenfield Festival of Trees: Set up your tree at the Meetinghouse Friday, Dec. 3 from 12 to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Display runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Trees displayed inside must be artificial, per fire codes; real trees can be set up outside. Cider and cookies to be served. FRANCESTOWN
Francestown Tree Lighting:ย The Francestown Improvement and Historical Society will be sponsoring the annual lighting of the Christmas tree on the Francestown town common on Sunday, Dec. 5. Attendees are invited to meet at the horse-sheds starting at 4:30 p.m. Hot chocolate will be provided. After seasonal carols, the tree will be lit at about 5 p.m.
PETERBOROUGH
Holiday Trees in Peterborough:ย From Friday Dec. 3 through Sunday Dec. 5, a grove of 30 themed, decorated trees will be on display on the front lawn of the Peterborough Community Center. Lights will be turned on each day from 3:30 to 10 p.m.
Voting for favorites can be done in person on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Peopleโs Choice and Judgesโ Choice winners will be announced Sunday evening.
Other activies will include Santa visits on Saturday and Sunday, singalongs and evening campfires on Friday and Saturday.ย
Admission isย free, although donations for the Peterborough Food Pantry will be accepted. For information or with questions, contact the Peterborough Recreation Department atย 603-924-8080.
TOUR OF LIGHTS
The Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lightsย coordinates holiday light displays in several local towns via their recreation departments.ย Residents are encouraged to decorate the exterior of their homes with festive lights and register their address with their local participating recreation department by Monday, Dec.ย 6, to be part of the Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lights.
Each registered address will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to a local business. Homes on the tour are encouraged to keep their lights shining from Saturday, Dec.ย 11, through Monday, Dec.ย 27. The address list for Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lights will be available to the public, through participating recreation departments, beginning on Saturday, Dec.ย 11. Local participating recreation departments include Antrim, Jaffrey, Peterborough and Rindge.ย
JAFFREY
Letters for Santa: Letters for Santa will be collected Tuesday, Nov.ย 30,ย through Tuesday, Dec. 14ย at Peopleโs United Bank in the lobby and Jaffrey Town Library right outside the main entrance.
Christmas Tree Lighting: The town tree lighting is set for Friday, Dec. 3,ย at the Jaffrey Gazebo on the Jaffrey Town Common. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with caroling from Jaffrey Grade School/Jaffrey Rindge Middle School andย Conant High School Chorus. Free refreshments are available and Santa will arrive to meet everyone and help light the tree.
The 40th annual Craft Fair will be Saturday, Dec. 11,ย at Conant High School Pratt Auditorium and JRMS Cafeteria from 8 a.m. toย 2 p.m. There will be more than 50 vendors, and free visits from Santa will be available from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free, and masks are required. WILTON
Santa and Mrs. Claus visit: On Nov. 28, the Wilton Fire Department Auxiliary invites residents to visit Santa and Mrs. Clausย at the Wilton Fire Station. The Clauses will be masked and gloved. Hours are 1 to 2 p.m. for any children who may be sensory sensitive, and the general public is welcome from 3 to 4:30 p.m. There is a holiday bag provided and cookies and juice. A Toys for Tots box is available for contribution of unwrapped toys.
Holiday Stroll: On Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Wilton Main Street Association will be hosting the Holiday Stroll and Community Tree Lighting. Santa Clausย will read โThe Night Before Christmasโ and light the tree in the Main Street park, before visiting with children. Main Street shops will be open extended hours for holiday shopping.
