The Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lights coordinates holiday light displays in several local towns via their recreation departments.

Homes on the tour are encouraged to keep their lights shining through Monday, Dec. 27. The address list for Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lights is available to the public, through participating recreation departments. Participating recreation departments are Antrim, Jaffrey, Peterborough and Rindge.

Temple Candy Cane Hunt: Try to find all 12 hidden candy canes in Temple. The search is on  through Dec. 18, and open to all children 18 and under.

Sponsored by the Temple Recreation Commission, people can join the hunt by grabbing an entry form from the town store or the Mansfield Public Library. Record all the candy canes found and return to the store to get a prize.

Luminaria display: On Dec. 19, Main Street in Wilton and the Main Street Park will be decorated by luminarias from the Wilton Main Street Association.

Christmas Eve video service: First Church in Jaffrey, mindful of COVID safety concerns, will have a Christmas Eve video service of Lessons and Carols that will be available via its website, firstchurchinjaffrey.org, on the morning of Christmas Eve so people can sing and celebrate the service at a time that is convenient to them.

Interim Minister the Rev. David Felton will give a Christmas meditation, followed by the service of Lessons and Carols that is a church tradition.

“The community and congregation traditionally flock to the Lessons and Carols service and greatly enjoy singing to the excellent music of Gene Faxon, First Church’s music minister, and the choir of Janet Grant, Joan Epro and Betsy Feiker. Congregational singing in a crowded church simply wasn’t going to be safe this year, much to our regret,” Felton stated. “With this compromise, as one member said, ‘With an in-your-own-home service, my family can sing carols as lustily as they wish!’”

Moderator Carol Hess will produce the video.
