Letter: Consider what Trump says

Please read these statements by Donald Trump and decide if he deserves your vote. Some are from the recent Trump-Harris debate.
About legal Haitian immigrants invited to Springfield, Ohio, to solve a labor shortage and declining population: “They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats, pets of the people who live there.” His source: “I’ve seen people on television.” Reputable sources, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine and Springfield’s town manager, repeatedly state that the rumors have no truth. Despite the lie, over 30 bomb threats have closed local schools and locked down a hospital.
About Kamala Harris’s large rallies: “She’s busing them in and paying them to be there.” He said a photo of one huge crowd was a fake. It wasn’t, but Trump did an AI fake showing Taylor Swift endorsing him. When she endorsed Harris, he proclaimed, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” an invitation for a MAGA extremist to go after her, just as lies about Haitians eating dogs invites hate crimes against immigrants.
He claims that schools are doing gender-changing surgery: “Can you imagine you’re a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, ‘Jimmy, I love you so much, go have a good day in school,’ and your son comes back with a brutal operation?”
Equally unhinged are his claims about newborn babies being killed. At the debate, Trump said “Her vice presidential pick says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. He also says execution after birth is OK.” Trump also stated that a Democratic governor “said the baby will be born and we will decide what to do with the baby. In other words, we'll execute the baby.” Such dangerous lies.
A functioning democracy needs informed voters, especially when a candidate isn’t grounded in reality.
