A Rindge man accused of threatening a woman with a weapon is expected to enter a guilty plea and be sentenced later this month.

Joshua Whitcomb, 40, of Rindge is charged with threatening and assaulting a former girlfriend who was attempting to pick up some of her things at Whitcomb’s Birch Drive residence on June 25. According to court documents, Whitcomb allegedly accused her of cheating on him, grabbed her shirt and a nearby shotgun with the other hand, racking it to put a bullet in the chamber.

Whitcomb allegedly told his former girlfriend to leave and threatened to “point [the gun] at [her] again” and threatened to overdose on medication.

Whitcomb was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the original incident, according to court documents.

Whitcomb was arrested the following day, following a multiple-hour standoff at his home, where police attempted to get him to exit his home and submit to an arrest and search warrant.

Whitcomb originally pled not guilty to charges of criminal threatening with a weapon and a domestic violence-related assault, but is expected to enter a new plea, followed by a sentencing hearing at the Cheshire County Superior Court in Keene on Nov. 19 at 9 a.m.
