Winter Chiller run series kicks off in Hancock

The first Winter Chiller race of 2024 got underway in the center of Hancock Jan. 13 with a mixed bag of winter weather for the 24 runners, as three inches of snow fell overnight and turned into rain in the early morning hours.

Reuben Lyons of Elevation PT and his four-footed companion Yannis finished first overall, with Mascenic High Sch Erin O'Shea taking the top women honors.

The host club, the Monadnock Regional Milers, is offering a five-race series, with the first one completed in Hancock, that are open to the public and come with a $5 charge with refreshments and friendly conversation to follow.

The race schedule is every other Saturday, each time from a different location. The remaining races are as follows: Jan. 27 at 310 Marlboro Street in Keene, Feb. 10th at Elevation PT in Peterborough, Feb. 24 at Temple Fellowship Hall (by the church), and the finale on March 9 at BeFit in New Ipswich.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. with racing to begin at 9 a.m. For further information go to: https://www.monadnockmilers.com/ or email runvalhalla@gmail.com.
