Letter: Reaching for solutions

Kudos to the Ledger-Transcript for participating in the Solution Journalism Network program (Editorial, June 11). The staff will take part in a six-month training program, learning how to incorporate problem-solving into news coverage as people in our 16 towns address local challenges (both large and small) together. A few years ago the local Citizens’ Climate Lobby aired a Zoom with solutions journalism speakers on having difficult community conversations, a model for reaching mutual solutions on divisive issues.

That brief exposure to one aspect of the SJ model gave me tools I’ve used to this day in personal and volunteer roles. Nothing could be more useful, particularly in today’s politically charged atmosphere.
