The eighth installment of Uplift Music Festival is bringing in some amazing national acts, mixing in stellar local talent and doing it all for a good cause.

The festival has gone through some changes this year but their mission to help local charities remains the same. Uplift will take place at Marty’s Driving Range in Mason on Saturday, July 27. Marty’s owner Nicole Ruggerio has been a long time volunteer for the festival and fully believes in the cause. When approached on the idea of hosting the event she didn’t blink an eye before responding with a definitive “YES!!”

“I have been a part of Uplift for a long time and fully believe in their mission to help the community through music, we couldn’t be happier to be hosting the event this year” Ruggiero said.

Uplift has called upon several popular national acts for this year’s event such as Rolling Stone magazine’s top 100 guitarist Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Boston native Ryan Montbleau Band, jam grass legends Donna the Buffalo and soul songstress Hayley Jane.

Being driven by a strong sense of community, Uplift will also be presenting great local talent from which this event was built on. Local bands include Adam & The Flood, Party of the Sun, Varsity Material and Senie Hunt.

“We’ve wanted to incorporate national bands with local bands from the beginning. It’s a great way to bring national touring bands to the region and a way for the local bands to get awesome exposure,” said event organizer Mike Chadinha when asked about the addition of the national acts.

Uplift Music Festival has teamed up with “End 68 Hours of Hunger” to be the beneficiaries of this year’s festival. End 68 Hours of Hunger mission is to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some local school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday afternoon, and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday morning.

This program puts nourishing food in the hands of school children to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child, with some left over to share. Uplift is also giving a portion of proceeds to the Mason school club which helps provide snacks, playground equipment, busses for field trips, Halloween events and much more for the Mason elementary school children.

Along with the music, Uplift will have family entertainment including bouncy houses, yoga, games and art installments.

Tickets are $40 each if you purchase a four-pack, $45 for individuals with kids 12 & under are free. Tickets are available at Harlow’s Pub in Peterborough and www.upliftmusicfest.org.
