Alicia Drakiotes, of Marlborough, will be the featured DubHub artist in November. The opening reception is on Friday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Alicia is primarily a self taught artist, focusing in the mediums of monotype (printmaking), soft pastel and oil.

Her expressive use of color and painting strokes gives much depth and life to her works in landscape, coastal studies and animal subjects. The Dublin Community Center is located at 1233 Main Street, Dublin, For more information, email info@dublincommunitycenter.org. The DubHub opens at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. It closes at 5 p.m. on Mondays. On Wednesdays it's closed from noon to 1pm, and then remains open until 4 p.m.

Alicia shows in National and International juried events throughout New England and has several solo exhibitions yearly. Alicia was a popular stop on the latest Monadnock Art Tour. She also can be found instructing local classes focusing on specific subjects or methods accomplished in pastel painting and monotype printmaking.

Of her work she states: “I am inspired by the world around me and try to convey the moment and the mood in my color choices, painterly marks and arrangements. Whether the piece is accomplished entirely on site or finished in the studio post outing, capturing and conveying a sense of place is my goal in my pastel and oil paintings. It is the mood and illumination I find evocative in my works of local landscape and coastal paintings. I find it important to incorporate a painterly style in my art, which adds to the depth and dramatic interpretation of my study.”
