Deborah Navas will be the October featured artist at the DubHub.

Navas captures the places she loves, “playing with paint,” to keep them changeless and to make them her own. She writes: “Those of us who thrill to ever-changing New England light and its glorious autumn gifts and cascade of spring colors, try our utmost, paintbrush in hand, to hold on to it.” Many of her paintings feature landscapes and historic structures of her beloved Block Island, off the coast of Rhode Island, where she spent many summer vacations with her children.

She says, “I’ve lived in New Hampshire now for some 40 years, but it wasn’t until I moved to rural Nelson that I understood and fell in love with Robert Frost’s ‘spring gold.’ Living as I do now among trees, farmland gone to blueberries and wildflowers, waiting out the long, cold, monochromatic winters for, at last, the sudden explosion: nothing ever so true green, as that hallelujah chorus of bursting spring green everywhere.”

An opening reception will be on Friday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The paintings can be viewed during open hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, and when the DubHub is open for special events. The Dublin Community Center is located at 1123 Main St.
