New art exhibit at Hancock Library

Two long-time Hancock resident artists – Bryon and Cynthia Niederhelman – will hold an in-person exhibit of their artwork at the library Sept. 4 through Oct. 12. The theme of their exhibit is “Close to Home,” which is based on paintings and photography of Hancock and the Monadnock area.

Cynthia is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. She taught art on a high school level, and has exhibited at numerous venues around New England.

Byron is a retired science teacher and amateur photographer. He utilized photography as a medium to teach science, as well as to inform and inspire local audiences about this beautiful part of the world in which we have chosen to live. Byron’s primary objective is to develop a sense of awareness and appreciation for nature, and also, to share the unique beauty of this area. He tries to capture subjects from an interesting point of view to get the viewer’s attention. At the same time, he endeavors to evoke an emotional response to the elements of the photo through subject material, perspective, or lighting effect.

A public reception will be held Sept. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Daniels Room of the Hancock Town Library.
