Francestown Sundays at 4 stars Suzuki Strings

On Sunday, July 11, the Francestown Old Meeting House will welcome Suzuki Strings, a group of young musicians from Canterbury to its “Sunday at 4” summer program.

Director and music teacher Sue Ann Erb will bring 25 students, including Francestown’s own Katie MacKay. The young performers, ages 5 to 18, have been studying all year for Sunday’s concert and will perform in group ensembles on violin, viola, and cello with some piano accompaniment.

The repertoire includes music by Dvorak, Brahms, Handel, Bach, Schumann, Vivaldi, as well as folk songs and fiddle tunes. The group has performed all over the state and has been highly acclaimed. Most of the students began their lessons between the ages of 3 to 5 and have learned through the teachings of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the internationally-renowned form of violin instruction for children based on parent-child connections.

The concert is free, on the lawn, from 4 to 5 p.m., and ice cream treats will contribute to the entertainment.

Guests who aren’t fully vaccinated are requested to please wear a mask. In case of rain, the show will move inside the Old Meeting House.
