‘Out Of The Woods’

Katina Makris’s personal experience of near death and catastrophic loss due to long term misdiagnosed Lyme disease, coupled with her professional experience as a Certified Classical Homeopath and Certified Spiritual Healer, gives her enormous depth and hard earned wisdom. She will be at The Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, to offer help and lead a discussion about Lyme Disease.

She is the author of Out Of The Woods: Healing From Lyme Disease For Body, Mind, And Spirit and of Autoimmune Illness And Lyme Disease Recovery Guide published following her own recovery from Lyme Disease. Since the publication of these books she has continued her research into the disease and will share her knowledge with those attending.

Katina has worked in natural health care since 1983.  Dynamic, authentic, and compassionate, she guides her readers towards critical tools for preventing, diagnosing and overcoming chronic Lyme disease, the epidemic of our time.

For those suffering from an autoimmune illness her books offer helpful well organized information  about the role of Integrative Medicine and dietary and lifestyle management for optimizing recovery potentials, as well as how to ignite the mind-body healing pathway.

‘Perfect Conditions’

Vanessa Blakeslee comes to The Toadstool Bookshop from Florida. She has published three books and will be at the store on Sunday Sept. 16, at 2 p.m.

Her latest is the short story collection Perfect Conditions. From the unforgiving surf of Costa Rica to hidden vineyards in the South of France, her stories span the globe, and the characters often struggle to find control in unrelenting circumstances: a deep sea fisherman discovers he may not be allowed to return home when his contract expires; a young woman mourns the death of a dear friend she cannot save; a newlywed couple embark on a disastrous honeymoon. These are unflinching stories from the author of the novel Juventud.

Both events are free and all are welcome. For more information call the bookstore at 924-3543 or see details online at toadbooks.com.
