Fiber artist Cynthia Lord will offer an ornament workshop, teaching how to make a standing wool snowman ornament on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harrisville Designs retail store.

Lord creates charming ornaments and pins using a historic method of coiling and sewing wool strips. The technique is fairly simple, but it offers many creative opportunities once it has been mastered. All materials will be included and participants may purchase kits to make more at home. The cost for the class, which is appropriate for ages 12 and up, is $25 per person.

People are also invited to come in and try their hand at weaving on beautiful handcrafted looms using Harrisville Designs yarn during retail store hours. New weavers will receive a brief lesson on using the loom. An hour is enough time to weave a piece of fabric about 12” in length, enough to make into a small pillow, a pencil pouch, a tiny purse, a placemat or whatever one can imagine. The cost is $25 per hour, which includes the use of a limited selection of Harrisville Designs yarn.

For more information or to sign up, visit the retail store located at 4 Mill Alley in Harrisville or call 827-3996.
