Carolyn Edwards of Sunflowers restaurant in Jaffrey and singer songwriter Wendy Keith of Peterborough plan to hold their seventh monthly event in the Notes series on Tuesday, Dec. 4, the last event of 2018.

The evening will combine both live original music and spoken word in an intimate evening at Sunflowers. A light buffet supper including dessert will be presented at a nominal fee beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

At 7 p.m. the entertainment will start off with singer songwriter Volkert Volkersz. Volkert spent 39 years as a music teacher and librarian in the Puget Sound area of the Northwest. He and his wife came to Peterborough in 2016 where Volkert now hosts the Dubhub. He plays six and twelve string guitars, harmonica and bouzouki.

Volkert will be followed by spoken word artists Becky Sakellariou and Sam Osherson.

Becky Sakellariou is a well-known poet in these parts. She weaves her years in Greece with her New England roots in intimate sounds rhythms and images. She will read from her new book, Undressing the Earth.

Sam Osherson is a teacher and an author of many books including Finding Our Fathers and most recently a novel, The Stethoscope Cure. Sam lives in Nelson with his wife, Julie.

Finally, we have singer, musician and songwriter, Tara Greenblatt. She plays with Folksoul and the Tara Greenblatt band. Tara Greenblatt is a soulful vocalist and impressive percussionist. Her original music and energy emanate wildness, a love affair with nature.

“NOTES” takes place usually on the first Tuesday of each month. Ms. Keith and Carolyn Edwards of Sunflowers have created an opportunity for musical and spoken word artists to join together, express and represent original work. Please call Sunflowers in advance for reservations @ 593-3303.
