The board of ConVal Community Dollars for Scholars (CVCDFS) is awarding four scholarships to 2021 ConVal graduates for the upcoming college year. The four recipients have varied interests and educational goals, but the common thread that weaves them together is their grit and determination to obtain a post-secondary degree.

The board selected the students who best exemplify a Dollars for Scholars recipient, based on their goals, financial needs, and life challenges. The scholarship recipients are: Nisse Anderson of Antrim, who won the highest and most prestigious award, receiving the John F. Vance scholarship in the amount of $12,000. Anderson will attend the University of New Hampshire, where she will pursue studies in international business and the arts/humanities.

The Ken Christian Memorial Scholarship, funded in part by Bellows-Nichols Insurance in the amount of $12,000, was awarded to Olivia Laskey-Rigrod of Hancock. Laskey-Rigrod will attend the University of New Hampshire, and plans to study psychology and social work.

One of two CVCDFS general scholarships, funded in part by the Peterborough Garden Club, in the amount of $8,000 was awarded to Maddie Rugg of Antrim. Rugg will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she will pursue studies in biomedical Engineering. The second CVCDFS Scholarship, funded in part by the Martha Scott Memorial Fund in the amount of $8,000, was awarded to Angelina Charron of Bennington. Charron will attend Champlain College in Vermont, where she plans to study Social Work.

ConVal Community Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships to ConVal district students who may not have the opportunity to attend college due to personal challenges and financial issues. Since 2007, the organization has awarded almost $440,000 to over 99 students, and is part of Scholarship America, the nation’s most extensive grassroots scholarship program.
