Warmed by a fire pit, hot cider and cookies, more than 60 people turned out Sunday at sundown for the Jaffrey Center Village Improvement Society’s 16th annual community carol sing around the Christmas tree on Jaffrey Center’s Meetinghouse Common.
A crew assembled by JCVIS President Suze Campbell decorated the tree.
“It’s a 13-foot Fralsam, a mix of Fraser and Balsam, a perfect Christmas tree,” Campbell stated. “It was grown at Windswept Mountains View Christmas Tree Farm in Richmond and delivered to the Jaffrey Center Common the weekend after Thanksgiving.”
The Rev. Steve Miller. pastor of First Church in Jaffrey, played carols on guitar and Janet Grant led the group in singing.
Campbell, who revived the carol sing tradition in 2007 and has organized it ever since, was pleased with this year’s event.
“Mike Guitard of Frogg Brewing in Marlborough provided an iron oval fire pit. Tim and Annie Gordon provided delicious cookies and hot cider,” she stated. “We had a great turnout and everyone had a great time – including the dogs!”
