Book Club, a new rom-com featuring four leading ladies of the 60-plus generation, will be featured at Peterborough Community Theatre’s Movie Club on Tuesday, June 19.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with an introduction by Mark Holding at 6:15 p.m.. The film begins at 6:30 p.m.

Diane (Diane Keaton) is recently widowed after 40 years of marriage, Vivian (Jane Fonda) enjoys her men with no strings attached, Sharon (Candice Bergen) is still working through her decades-old divorce, and Carol’s (Mary Steenburgen) marriage is in a slump after 35 years. The lives of these four lifelong friends are turned upside down after reading the infamous 50 Shades of Grey, catapulting them into a series of outrageous life choices.

According to common sense media®: “No matter how you feel about the Fifty Shades of Grey books, it’s a treat to watch this quartet of excellent actresses on screen together ... it’s undeniably amusing to see them banter in this Nancy Meyers-like comedy. It’s also refreshing for a movie to offer the possibility that older women can be with younger men (Johnson is 12 years younger than Fonda, and Garcia is 10 years younger than Keaton) and to cast acclaimed actors like Wallace Shawn, Ed Begley Jr., and Richard Dreyfuss in supporting roles.”

This film is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 1 hour and 44 minutes.

There is no fee to be a member of the PCT Movie Club, although you do need to purchase a movie ticket the night of the discussion.
