The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee this week passed bipartisan legislation, co-sponsored by Senator Maggie Hassan, to help protect small businesses against cybersecurity threats.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy in New Hampshire and across America, creating good-paying jobs and helping spur economic development,” Senator Hassan said. “Innovative small businesses are a major target for cyberattacks, and this bipartisan bill will provide small businesses with the resources and tools necessary to better protect their digital assets from cyber threats. I look forward to continue working across the aisle to support small businesses and to strengthen cybersecurity.”

The Making Available Information Now to Strengthen Trust and Resilience and Enhance Enterprise Technology Cybersecurity Act will provide a consistent set of resources for small businesses to best protect their digital assets from cybersecurity threats.

Senator Hassan, who serves as a member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, joined Senators Brian Schatz (D-HI), James Risch (R-ID), John Thune (R-SD), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Cory Gardner (R-CO), and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) in cosponsoring the bill.

The MAIN STREET Cybersecurity Act is also supported by the National Small Business Association.
