Francestown seeks feedback on transfer station

Published: 11/12/2020 2:10:10 PM

In an attempt to lower its budget for 2021, the Francestown Transfer Station is looking into changing its operating hours.

With municipalities faced with low revenues in all facets, department heads were asked to come in with a budget 2% lower than in 2020.

In an attempt to decrease the budget, the Waste Disposal Committee is examining the possibility of operating under its current winter hours year round. Other areas being looked at are professional development, travel reimbursement, uniforms (PPE), supplies and water, electronics and building repairs. Small reductions in these areas coupled with shorter operating hours would result in a reduction of 2.60%.

The winter hours, Wednesdays, 1 to 6 p.m., Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., are held Labor Day to Memorial Day. Summer hours add an additional two hours on Wednesdays until 8 p.m. for three months.

The Waste Disposal Committee is seeking input about the potential changes from residents by calling the Selectman's office to discuss with Town Administrator Jamie Pike. You can also email Becky Moul at unekeone@comcast.net.
