Peaceful vigils continue Saturday in Peterborough

Published: 7/31/2020 10:58:27 AM

The Hancock Community Conversations on Race Group continues its peaceful vigils on Saturday, Aug. 1.

The group said the peaceful vigils continue “because institutionalized racism continues in this country....because daily we learn of more Black and Brown Americans who are discriminated against, who are murdered, and who live lives of stress every day.”

From from noon to 1 p.m., the vigil will line up along Route 101 and Route 202 in Peterborough. Participants are asked to be respectful of each other’s health and safety and to demonstrate that caring by wearing masks and standing six feet apart. Those taking part are also asked not to block pedestrians using the sidewalks as well as driveways, don’t stand in the median and be aware to not block drivers’ lines of sight.

There will be an unstaffed table near the pedestrian underpass at the edge of the Job Lot parking area close to the river and Route 101, where people can create a sign or pick up a sign to use.
