Liz LaRose, director of marketing and communications for Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, has been hired as the new Monadnock United Way president.

The MUW Board of Directors made the announcement this week after completing a three-month search. LaRose begins work at MUW on Oct. 31.

LaRose has been at Crotched Mountain since September 2010, handling marketing and communications initiatives that have helped grow key services that serve some of the most vulnerable populations in area communities, improve employee retention and recruitment and broaden awareness of the center’s mission and programming.

“The Monadnock United Way is well respected for the positive impact that it has had in our region for well more than 60 years,” said LaRose. “I’m honored to join the MUW and work within a vibrant community that is known for its dedication to strengthening and improving the quality of life for those who live and work here.”

Prior to Crotched Mountain, LaRose ran her own marketing and communications company for 13 years - LaRose Marketing Communications Inc., based in Peterborough. Before that she was an account executive with Quantic Communications of Andover, Mass.

LaRose is a graduate of Rivier College in Nashua with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is an accredited public relations professional and a graduate of the Leadership New Hampshire Class of 2011.

She is currently president of the Public Relations Society of America, Yankee Chapter. She was on the Giving Monadnock Board and Steering Committee, including serving as interim chair; member and chair of the Town of Sharon Conservation Commission; board member for the Harris Center for Conservation Education; and was a member of the Monadnock Community Hospital’s Community Needs Assessment Committee. She has been an adaptive ski instructor. LaRose lives in Sharon with her husband.

LaRose fills the MUW role held by Kathy Harrington for six years. Harrington left MUW to be executive director for the Monadnock Humane Society.
