A budding group of volunteers are working to feed underprivileged students in the ConVal school district and need your help
An informational gathering will be held this Friday for ConVal’s branch of End 68 Hours of Hunger, a non-profit organization that collects food for students to bring home so they can eat on the weekends. The meeting will be held at the Union Congregational Church in Peterborough, located at 33 Concord St. and start at 6:30 p.m.
“Children are our future, so we need to look at any way we can enhance their lives,” said Bob Marrone, pastor of the Union Congregational Church.
“We are looking for a variety of people that can volunteer their time to shop for food, fundraise money, and pack and transport meals to each school.”
The coordinators of the group hope to have the program up and running by the start of the 2016-17 school year, but are in need of more volunteers and funds. It is currently projected that as many as 170 students could be eligible for such a program.
