A Dublin man was arrested in Hancock Friday after he was stopped for driving an unregistered vehicle and police said a strong odor of marijuana caused them to ask to search the vehicle.

Nicholas Adams, 30, of Dublin was arrested and charged with felony possession with the intent to distribute Friday around 4:49 p.m., Hancock police said in a press release Monday.

Friday afternoon police stopped a vehicle Adams was driving on Bonds Corner Road in Hancock because the vehicle was unregistered.

During the motor vehicle stop, the police officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Adams admitted to possessing marijuana and gave consent for his vehicle to be searched, Hancock police said.

The officer found about three pounds of marijuana, in multiple bags, inside of the vehicle, police said.

The marijuana was seized and the vehicle was impounded and towed.

Adams was arrested and charged with a felony level charge, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.

He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and given a Oct. 25 court date in the Hillsborough County Superior Court in Manchester.
