The parking lot at the quarry in Mason is finally in the hands of the Conservation Commission.

After being provided to the town more than two years ago, the Board of Selectmen and Conservation Commission finalized an agreement drawn up by Selectman Charles Moser to take the deed.

“The only question left in my mind is whether the deed should be made out to the Conservation Commission or the town,” Moser said before voting to assign it to the commission.

The easement allows parking for Mason residents for recreational purposes at the quarry, just in time for summer. It will remain subject to town ordinances passed in the future.

The space, located in tax lot E-31, was passed along by the property owners. Moser mentioned the town will consider pursuing a release of mortgage to avoid possible future complications with the space.

“We’re in support for this for quarry parking, as a lovely gift to the town of Mason,” he said.
