Klobuchar, strong moderate who can win

To the editor:

I appreciate the opportunity the Ledger-Transcript provides to exchange views on current issues with others publicly.

With my long time good friend Mary Lou O’Neil in Hancock I share my support for Amy Klobuchar who I expect to get increasing support as she progresses through the South Carolina and Nevada primaries shows that she has the experience, knowledge, and gumption to beat the President on the debate stage, has the knowledge and senate experience in governance and the potential to beat him as candidate for election as President. Unlike Hillary Clinton she never would have hesitated to say to Trump “get off my back, you creep” as she later regretted not having done.

Like Michael Havey of Hancock I share the lament that he is “glad that his dad is not around to witness it (the GOP) morphing into a proto-fascist cult.” With Tricia Saenger of Temple I agree with her writing “don’t be afraid of “socialism.” “Don’t let its misuse blind you to the underlying issues of the day. We need its “social glue” more than ever.” Like Michael Havey of Hancock “I am glad that my (his) dad is not around to witness it (the GOP) morphing into a proto-fascist cult.” With Frank Menghini of Peterborough I agree that “if the President believed he was truly innocent why would he not want people on his staff to testify on his behalf?”

With these local perceptions together with the most dire warning in the New York Times this week of the significance of the resignation of four Justice Department prosecutors it is increasingly evident that these are extremely dangerous times. Democrats have succeeded in impeaching the President. What has yet to be done is to nominate the candidate who can beat him in November, a strong moderate who can win Republican as well as Democrat votes and not such liberals as Sanders and Warren.
