To the editor:

Life is complex, at times messy, thus often stressful. Life is what it it…until suddenly…what is…isn’t. But no matter what I’m free to choose an attitude. And my attitude, like everyone else’s, is highly contagious. So with my daily random acts of kindness I make a difference.

Unlike a selfish greedy bee I think about the well-being of the hive, and all the other bees. Thus I establish eye contact with all strangers, thus saying “I see you, a unique and special human being.” And I wave, smile and laugh a lot.

When in a long line of slow moving traffic I’ll pause to let a driver on a side Street cut in front of me. But when invited to the troublesome dramas of life I detach from the invitations.

And when greeting friends and family I’ll take the time to really listen after I ask ‘How are you doing today?’

When I listen to myself I can really hear others. When I treat myself with respect, kindness and compassion, i can treat others the same way.

It’s a win-win when I consciously focus on such details that make all the difference. And I don’t have to wait for Christmas to give and receive these gifts.
