We’ve been in Rindge for 35 years and have loved living in a small town. We knew Rindge wouldn’t stay a sleepy little community. Growth was a given- needed and necessary. We have an elected board to oversee that and we are confident in its abilities to carry out that task.

More often than not lately, I’m amazed, disappointed and in awe of the way some residents react to situations. Most days I’m just embarrassed. The people attempting to have our planning director fired, who have publicly attacked his credibility and are on a mission to destroy him and take away his livelihood should be ashamed.

I will never forget when I worked for the town and we proposed a building for the Recreation Department. It did not pass at Town Meeting. The next day, Kirk Stenersen and his dad Phil showed up at my office. They explained it wasn’t the building the townspeople objected to, but the tax dollars needed to construct it. They promised they would help raise the money and volunteers necessary, and Rindge would not have that beautiful building at Wellington Park if not for them. Though he had a relatively new business and young family, Stenersen spent late nights and early mornings donating his time to see the project through. He has been on the planning board, been deputy moderator and actively involved in his church and community events. He genuinely cares about our community, and his character and integrity are above reproach.

We don’t have to like all the decisions, but we have put people in place to do what’s best for the town. Treat people as you wish to be treated and be respectful. Most importantly, be the change you want to see. Run for office. Go to meetings. Volunteer.
