Helping children achieve success

To the editor:

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been serving youth in the Granite State for more than 50 years and working in the Monadnock region for more than 40. Their mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Big Brothers Big Sisters has matched tens of thousands of children facing adversity throughout the state with caring, supportive mentors.

The vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters is that all children achieve success in life. We hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoidance of risk behaviors, and educational success.

Being an intern this past semester with BBBSNH West Region, I have seen firsthand how children are positively affected by the mentorships and support received from the organization. Meeting the children face to face is a life changing experience. Watching the first match meet-up and the joy and excitement in the children’s eyes of gaining a friend, mentor, and support system is so fulfilling. Being a part of this organization is something I wish for more people to be able to experience. Whether it is volunteering to be a Big or knowing a child that would benefit from being a Little, BBBS is an overall positive community. I strongly encourage people to visit our website and apply today.
