Two special events

To the editor:

It was a wonderful day to be in Peterborough!

I began my day at the Peterborough Elementary School, where an amazing group of parents had engineered a “penny sale” extravaganza.  There were so many donated items and services it was difficult to select the ones you wanted to bid on.  If you came without breakfast there were some basic food items, but the real pleasure came from watching young children run and play in orderly fashion while diligent parents oversaw their safety from a distance. Spouses of PTO members were in the wings helping as needed but the event was so well choreographed that everyone seemed at ease.  If you missed this event be sure to watch for it next year.

My next stop was the Greenerborough fair on Elm Street.  This was far, far better than previous green events.  There were all kinds of businesses and programs hoping to get us to be more environmentally conscious in our daily lives.  A food court here too, and also live sheep and cattle. Plenty of parking and live music presented by the beautiful Tara Greenblatt band on the lawn.

Both events today lent themselves to cycling back and forth between the two. Don’t miss them next year!
