Thanks for support of our veterans

To the editor,

With heartfelt thanks we would like to thank the people in the Monadnock area for turning out on an extremely cold day for Veterans Day in Peterborough. The weather may not have been nice but the ceremony was a huge success.

Thank you Rev. Sandi Albom for conducting the Remembrance Service at All Saints Church. Philip Huckins, of Keene, did a beautiful homily which made the congregation reflect about their military service. Thank you to the staff of All Saints and for being welcome to have the service at there.

Thank you to the Peterborough Police for their participation in the Parade. The Parade marched to the Town House while the South Meadow School drummers set the cadence under the direction of SMS band leader Ed Lowy.

We wish to thank the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Monadnock Squadron, the SMS Band, Girls and Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies and American Heritage Club for their participation.

A special thanks to the Guest Speaker Jefferson Allen of Peterborough for his interesting and moving speech about Armistice Day.

Thank you to the Peterborough town employees who set up the Upper Town House for the event, especially on a Saturday.

Thank you to the Auxiliary for hosting coffee and donuts after the Remembrance Service as well as having a bake sale table. Thank you to the cooks who donated yummy baked goods.

Again, thank you to all the people who gave up a Saturday on a long weekend to be there for the veterans.

Wayne and Dee Thomas
