Swimming: Senior swim for Conant, Mascenic

The Conant swim team hosted Mascenic, Monadnock and Keene for a swim meet Sunday at the Clark Memorial YMCA in Winchendon, Massachusetts. Conant and Mascenic honored their senior swimmers at this meet as this was both teams only home meet of the season.

Mascenic swam well and had a great meet even though several swimmers were dealing with colds and not feeling 100 percent.

Senior Zack Allen won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 56.25 and placed second in the 100 Backstroke with a 1:09.07 which qualified him for the state meet and was a personal record.

Senior Emma Knisley won the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:31.67 and took sixth in the 50 Freestyle with a personal record of 31.75.

Senior Molly Caron had a personal record in the 100 Freestyle of 1:22.83.

Junior Ryan Goodrich was second in the 50 Freestyle with a 29.72.

The girls’ 200 Freestyle Relay of Emma Mittleider, Avery McClain, Sophie Callahan, and Emma Knisley placed second with a 2:25.05 and missed upsetting Division I Keene by just 1.5 seconds.

Conant also had some excellent performances by their swimmers.

Senior Scott LaBrecque just edged out fellow senior Garrett Cournoyer to win the 200 IM, finishing in 2:37.23 to Cournoyer’s 2:37.46. LaBrecque also took second in the 100 Freestyle in 59 seconds.

Cournoyer won the 100 Backstroke in 1:08.44.

Senior Kevin Simmons won the 200 Freestyle in 2:34.11.

Mia Stenersen won the 200 Freestyle in 2:13.97 and the 500 Freestyle in 6:10.41.

Maddy Smith won the 100 Butterfly in 1:26.54, with teammate Toria Stenersen in second at 1:31.20. Toria Stenerson also took second in the 100 Backstroke.

Abby Wheeler won the 100 Backstroke in 1:13.74 and was second in the 200 IM.

Mascenic’s next meet is Friday, at Kearsarge. Conant travels to Oyster River’s Bobcat Invitational on Sunday.
