Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St., will host artwork by Ann Eldridge March 30 to May 7.

A reception will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. Eldridge’s work will include intaglio prints, using traditional etching, aquatint and drypoint techniques, and will feature scenes and stories from the natural world.

Eldridge speaks for nature in her art. Her process involves observing, creating and communicating her vision to connect others to the outdoors.

“I think of myself as a reporter describing what I witness in the course of my days – while growing food or mucking about in swamps, for instance. What better way to understand an animal or plant than to draw it?” she stated.

Drawn to the outdoors since she was young, Eldridge almost pursued a field in biology or farming, but her talent for drawing took her in another direction. She finds inspiration walking the hills that overlook the lake near her rural home, and in daily activities such as gardening in her backyard.

Eldridge grew up in Massachusetts, and has lived in New Hampshire for the past 30 years. She studied printmaking at Massachusetts College of Art, and took courses in botany and horticulture at the University of New Hampshire. She has illustrated several books and publications.

Workshops in environmental sciences and working with Bradford’s conservation commission keep her in touch with her scientific interests.

The exhibit can be viewed in the Daniels Room of the library during regular library hours of Monday and Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the library at 603-525-4411 before visiting to ensure no special events are scheduled at that time.
