An unidentified driver walked away unscathed following a car fire on Temple Mountain Wednesday.

According to Temple Fire Chief George Clark, the driver of the Nissan Altima was traveling on Temple Mountain when the vehicle experienced a severe mechanical issue, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Clark said the fire occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m., and Deputy Chief James McTague and members of Peterborough Fire and Rescue arrived on scene shortly after the fire began.

Clark said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire by approximately 1:30 p.m. The driver was uninjured

Clark said he’s thankful for the mutual assistance from Peterborough Fire and Rescue to ensure the driver’s safety.

“We are glad nobody was hurt. This is an example of why we need mutual aid and why it’s so successful,” said Clark.
