ConVal Regional High School students earned recognition from Scholastic Art Awards.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, when 35 students from ConVal High art classes and those enrolled in the digital photo and video program at the Regional 14 Applied Technology Center will be  recognized for their work.

Students created a variety submissions, including paintings, drawings and ceramics. Submissions were judged on originality, skill and the emergence of a personal voice of vision.

Selected students included seniors Hannah Beisang, Justin Borges, Aidan Campbell, Sean Cattigan, Jennifer Hopkins, Francisco Jaimes, Zach Pease, Colin Pellettieri, Makila Sestito, Brody Thompson and Esther Janis, juniors Gage Blanchette, Aliston Bolton, Mackenzie Cook, Aries Danforth, Kendrick Edwards, Destiny Jiminez, Quinn Krook, Luci McLay, Juliana O’Mahoney, Garret Rousseau, Benjamin Sawyer and Chloe Ward and sophomores: Dylan Beisang, Samantha Daume and Aidan Marony.

Additionally, a select group of students earned special recognition for their pieces: sophomore Brian Alonso, honorable mention in painting; first-year student Cameryn Burtsell, honorable mention in painting; junior Garret Rousseau, honorable mention in ceramics; senior Justin Borges, honorable mention in ceramics; sophomore Aidan Marony, honorable mention in ceramics; sophomore Riley Heider, honorable mention in ceramics; and sophomore Audrey Young, honorable mention in ceramics.

Senior Ruth Cassidy earned a Gold Key for her drawing and illustration piece, which means her work will automatically be considered for national awards, including Gold or silver medals and scholarships awards.

ConVal High School participates in the Scholastic Art Awards annually, and this year students in the digital photo program earned more honors than any other CTE center in New Hampshire.

“I would like to congratulate all our students for their recognition and hard work,” stated Principal Heather McKillop. “I would also like to thank our teachers for their commitment to our students and for helping them achieve their goals and receiving these wonderful awards. At ConVal High School, we encourage creativity and growth, and I am honored to watch our students put themselves out there and have their work be displayed and seen.”
