Editorial: Share what’s happening

Published: 01-03-2023 9:00 AM

A new year brings a new opportunity for us to encourage you to help us build a stronger newspaper and a stronger community.

We have a small staff and work hard to cover the news and events of 16 towns. We only know what we know – and what you tell us – so please, don’t be shy.

We welcome news tips, story ideas and news of your organization’s upcoming events, both so we can inform our readers and because they frequently provide ideas for stories.

Be sure to include when and where the event is happening, information about the activity, any changes and your contact information.

We also encourage you to send us photos and a brief write-up from the event. Photos are a great way to show what’s happening in our communities and the people taking part in those activities. Please send photos as attachments in emails to news@ledgertranscript.com, with a brief description of what’s happening and the names of the people in the photo.

We also want to hear your opinions about local stories, our coverage or the news of the day through letters to the editor. Just remember that the maximum length is 300 words for letters and 200 for thank-you letters, that letters are edited and condensed and that we will not run letters critical of another’s religion, commercial in nature or containing blasphemous, obscene, legally objectionable language. All letters should be original and signed by the author with a phone number for confirmation.

If you’re plugged into your town and have an interest in writing, we hope you’ll consider being a community correspondent to share activities in your town and stories about living there. Please contact editor Bill Fonda at bfonda@ledgertranscript.com.

You, our readers, are vital to the success of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, and we want to know your stories, see your pictures and hear your opinions. Let’s work together to keep our communities informed and connected. Best wishes to all in 2023.
