Heidi Reimer will read from her debut novel, “The Mother Act,” Thursday, May 9, at 5:30 p.m. at Toadstool Bookshop, 12 Depot St. in Peterborough.

Reimer lived in Dublin for a year while attending post-secondary school in the Monadnock region. “The Mother Act” is set on the opening night of a one-woman show, as the performer is a feminist figure and outspoken critic of social expectations of motherhood, and her estranged 24-year-old daughter is in the audience.
