Editorial:  Salute a Hometown Hero

Published: 03-21-2023 12:10 PM

Who are the people in our communities who lift us up in ways big and small?

We want to know about these people, and share their stories with everyone in the region through our new series, Hometown Heroes. Made possible with the support of Savings Bank of Walpole, Hometown Heroes will run monthly, with stories in print, online and in newsletters. We’ll also have a page on our website where all of the stories are gathered and displayed.

Our goal is to consistently reinforce the value of helping others. We want our stories to inspire everyone to think about the difference we can make in the world around us. Heroes are role models. They can be health care workers, shop owners, employees, fitness instructors, teachers, community volunteers, old or young.

They may be public figures, or perhaps do their best work behind the scenes. The common thread is that through their efforts, they help, inspire and make our community stronger. Whoever they are, whatever they do, they deserve recognition, and we want to give it.

An important part about Hometown Heroes is that it starts with you. Your nominations will point us to the people we write about, so we can honor the people who show dedication, solve problems and make life in the community better. We regularly receive emails from readers with suggestions of stories to tell, and we’re confident that you will keep the ideas coming.

Please think of the person in your life who should be recognized. Tell us who they are, what they do and what makes them so special. You can fill out our nomination form at https://www.ledgertranscript.com/SpecialPages/Hometown-Heroes. Or, email us with the first and last name of the person you want to nominate as a Hometown Hero, the town they live in and how we can get in touch with them (email, phone number, etc.). Tell us what makes them a Hometown Hero to you.

We’ll also need your full name, email address, phone number and anything else you'd like to share with us.

Thank you for sharing your Hometown Heroes.
