I’m writing to thank Bill Fonda and the Ledger-Transcript for the excellent article in the April 11 edition (“Scam targets signups”) alerting Peterborough residents to be careful when dialing the Community Power number (866-603-POWR). Some evil scammers are waiting to take advantage of you if you misdial by replacing 866 with 800.

I also want to provide additional context to the Community Power monthly prices that were quoted in the article. Those prices were averages, based on typical home use of 600 kWh per month. If you use more than 600 kWh in a month, your payment will be higher. If you use less, you’ll pay less.
