Friends of the Jaffrey Library schedule annual meeting, presentation

On Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m., the Friends of the Jaffrey Library will hold their annual meeting, followed by a special program.

The event will begin with brief reports from the Friends’ board on funds raised, projects supported with those funds, book sales and future plans. The meeting will be held in the library’s ground floor collaborative learning space, accessible from the street and the interior elevator for people with disabilities.  Members and anyone interested in joining the Friends are urged to attend.

After the reports, Harris Center naturalist and author of “The Animal Adventurer's Guide” Susie Spikol will welcome spring with “Birds on the Mind and in the Air.” Spikol will explore why people are drawn to birds and what is making birdwatching one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in America. Learn where some of the hot spots for seeing birds are in the Monadnock region, when the prime times are for seeing and hearing certain birds and how birdwatching can help make connections to the natural world and wider community. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

April 13 is also the monthly book donation morning sponsored by the Friends. Bring up to 15 books to the Bean Room on the main floor from 10 a.m. to noon, and volunteers will screen donations before adding them to the sale shelves. All books need to be in good condition with no writing, tears or stains on the pages. The criteria for donations are posted on the two sale shelves.
